Closing Report
05/08/2008Exhibitors and visitors very satisfied with SENSOR+TEST 2008
- 562 exhibitors
- 7,900 trade visitors
- Extensive supporting programme
- Action Area definitely improved
All concerned agreed again this year: Exhibitors, visitors and AMA representatives rate SENSOR+TEST 2008, which has just ended, a complete success. Although the some 7,900 trade visitors over the last three days just failed to reach the target number of visitors, the exhibitors were mainly satisfied with the number and high quality of the contacts made. The organizers of the parallel conferences also summed up positively. “We have established SENSOR+TEST as an event at which visitors can expect distinctly more than at other classic exhibitions,” says Holger Bödeker, Director of AMA Service GmbH: “The exhibitor forums, Action Area and this year’s new Job Tea-Time offer platforms for lively exchange of information at all levels.”
Altogether 562 exhibitors showed their products and innovations on a display area of 20,000 m2 at SENSOR+TEST from 6-8 May. The exhibition offered visitors the entire spectrum of sensors and measuring and testing technology. The exhibitors were very satisfied with the whole event. For example, Christl Lauterbach, Director of Future Shape GmbH, Höhenkirchen: “We have had very many interesting contacts until now – more than we expected. Some of them are customers who already use other sensors and come to the exhibition because they find a very large concentration of a wide variety of sensors here.”
The supporting programme at the exhibition was again very well accepted by the visitors. The exhibitor forums offered interesting presentations and panel discussions that attracted many visitors. Exhibitors and visitors liked the idea of locating exhibition stands and the pavilion for “young, innovative companies” in the Action Area in hall 8 this time. “The strategy of livening up the Action Area with exhibition stands and pavilion is super,” says a delighted Henning Pöschl, General Manager of CAESAR Datensysteme GmbH of Oberhaching: “This is really good this year, but it’s a pity the automotive segment is mainly in Stuttgart. The worst thing for us as a small company was having to attend two exhibitions at the same time.”
The Job Tea-Time organized for the first time will be continued and expanded in the coming years. The job market specializing in sensors and measuring and testing technology is an easy way for exhibitors to recruit graduates and young technicians.
The SENSOR Innovation Award 2008 worth 10,000 euros went to a team of developers from InfraTec GmbH, TU Chemnitz and Fraunhofer IZM Chemnitz. The jury presented the award to the team for its development of a spectrally variable infrared detector with micromechanical Fabry-Perot filter.
The next SENSOR+TEST takes place again in Nürnberg from 26-28 May 2009. The SENSOR+TEST Conference – comprising Sensor 2009, Opto 2009 and IRS2 2009 – already guarantees an interesting supporting programme for next year. The Action Area, forums and Job Tea-Time are also firmly planned again.
